Funding of Custom Made Breast Prostheses

Funding from the Ontario Government Ministry of Health and Long Term Care (MOHLTC) Assistive Devices Program (ADP)

ADP provides a grant to help pay a portion of the cost of an external breast prosthesis for women who are residents of Ontario and have a valid Health Card Number. This grant applies to women who have had a mastectomy and also for women who have a congenital malformation (such as Poland’s Syndrome). ADP sends the grant to the applicant after they have paid for the prosthesis and have submitted an original copy of the receipt along with the ADP Breast Grant Application form. Funding from Private Insurance or Extended Health Care Plans in Canada

Many insurance companies and extended health care plans in Canada will cover the New Attitude Custom Breast Prosthesis as an important alternative to surgical reconstruction. Deciding upon a custom made breast prosthesis often enables a woman to return to work sooner. Many Canadian women travel to see us in Ontario and although they work in another province, their extended health care plans (non public insurance) will reimburse them for the cost of the New Attitude custom breast prosthesis. To access coverage and to receive a pre-authorization of your coverage from your extended healthcare plan, several steps must be taken and the proper documentation must be submitted to your insurance company for consideration. SELF FUNDING

Many of our clients self fund the cost of the New Attitude Custom Breast Prosthesis because they see it as an important contribution to their post treatment well being. In addition to the small contribution from the Ontario's ADP Breast Grant, there may be other resources we can help women identify. Additionally, the New Attitude custom made breast prosthesis can be claimed as a medical expense on one's personal income tax. Whatever the circumstances, New Attitude works with each client to sort out the funding as well as providing them with the very best possible custom breast prosthesis made specifically for them and their lifestyle.
